The Things They Don't Tell You!

The Things They Don't Tell You are...
THIRTY hours for first charge.
TWENTY hours for subsequent charges.
Only 50 MINUTES, roughly, of use-time before needing a recharge.
You must OIL at three locations BEFORE and AFTER each use.
Power indicator gives NO CLUE as to its Charge Status.
Gorgeous design. Fits well in the hand.
Ridiculous charge times and maintenance hassles.
I really wanted to like this unit, but life is too short. I bought a Lithium-Ion based unit, instead -- which requires no oil or crazy charge times, and can be used while charging.

Excellent trimmer

For the longest time I've been looking for another trimmer that can be used in the shower. It simply saves time and energy in that one doesn't need to worry about hair falling all over the place when they're trimming. I've been using the same Panasonic trimmer that allows for use in the shower for years, probably close to a decade. So, when I saw this trimmer was available, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to test it out. So, already a benefit is that it can be used at the sink or in the shower. Compared to my old Panasonic trimmer, the blade is excellent, although not as wide as my old Panasonic, and I could immediately tell that there was a difference in terms of results. I was able to get better results in less time. Unfortunately, when I took off the comb attachment to get as close a trim as possible, there were a few instances of hairs being pulled rather than trimmed. No product is perfect, unfortunately, and since I usually follow up with the Andis Outliner, I can readily leave the comb attachment on in the future. So aside from pulling a few hairs, the only other downside is that it is not as good as the Andis, which gives me the best results compared to close to a dozen trimmers that I've tried in the past few years. But this one beats them all since, once more, it can be used in the shower, thereby saving time in terms of cleanup. If you're not looking for the closest possible trim (which really this trimmer isn't advertising and why I have not taken off any stars in my review) but would rather follow the mm size settings that are available on this trimmer, then this Panasonic should definitely fulfill your needs.

Lacking some features, but pretty good overall

It gives a decent shave & trim, and it with 19 individual settings, it's just a matter of finding the right one for your needs. It's really easy to clean, and it feels relatively solid, but the fact that the instructions tell you to oil the blades before each & every use makes me wonder just how durable this is.
I'd expect any rechargeable device to tell me how much charge remains; either graphically or with a simple warning light, but this trimmer does not. It would have been pretty easy & cheap to include some kind of indicator on it, but Panasonic must have figured it would be even easier & cheaper not to...
Another annoying thing about this trimmer is that when the base is plugged in & the trimmer is placed in the base, a red light turns on. To me, that would indicate that the trimmer's contact points are properly aligned in the base, and the base is plugged in, and the trimmer is actively charging. I'd expect that red light to either shut off or turn green when the charge is complete, but it doesn't. It always stays red, and it always stays illuminated. I want to know when the battery is fully charged so I can remove the trimmer & save the battery from being overcharged, causing it to lose its ability to hold a charge. But, again, Panasonic chose to do otherwise.
